Three London Borough schools using Safehinge finger guards

Worcesters-12-ret-1

We recently completed a photoshoot at three schools within London boroughs, encompassing all of our finger guard product range.

Southwark Park Primary School

South of the river, we supplied Southwark Park Primary School (London Borough of Southwark) with 152 Alumax integral finger guards and 12 Sureclose concealed door closers in Summer 2014.  As a new school, the integral Alumax finger guards was chosen to design out the problem – the ideal approach when you are building new.  To help create spacious corridor and learning areas, while maintaining fire compartments and escape routes, we supplied our double swing transom door closer Sureclose with E-MAG hold open that’s linked to the fire alarm.  All concealed in the frame head avoid any unsightly surface mount hold open devices that can also be prone for kids playing with in schools.

Worcester Primary School

On the northern boundaries of Greater London, we supplied 20 Alumax integral finger guards to Worcester Primary School (London Borough of Enfield) as part of an extension built offsite by Portakabin in 2014.  The client was so happy with the quality of Alumax that in 2015, tired of replacing broken plastic guards, they asked us to retrofit 80 Alumini surface-mounted finger guards to the rest of the existing building.  As Alumax and Alumini are designed to complement each other, the addition of the Alumini finger guards helped tie in the existing building with the new extension – providing a continuous aluminium guard finish throughout.

Cranmer Primary School

Further south, in Cranmer Primary School (LB Merton) 65 Alufast finger guards were supplied the same year.  The doors in this school used standard butt hinges, so a retrofit finger guard was the only choice.  ALUfast’s solid aluminium wing provides a robust and safe alternative to plastic and flexible rubber finger guards, plus it creates clean lines on the door. After two years, the product is still looking great.

Retrofit finger guards can be more budget friendly than an integral solution without sacrificing safety or durability.
