Earlier this year, we launched our mobile showroom - Doora, which already has racked up some miles on the clock (over 4,600 miles, to be precise!). The display vehicle has visited over 15 mental health organisations nationwide. Its purpose is to help introduce lifesaving features of anti-ligature products and anti-barricade doorsets, as well as educate on the importance of full-door alarm sensors within challenging mental health environments.
Most recently, doora voyaged across the sea to visit three organisations in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Our product training crew meet with facility and clinical teams to discuss ways to improve safety within their mental health facilities and design features that can support patients' route to recovery. Read about our Irish trip below!
First off, we headed for Dublin to visit St. Patricks Mental Health Services, Ireland's largest independent not-for-profit mental health service. The representatives from the organisation visited us to learn more about our full-door ligature alarm and how it could improve safety at St.Patrick's University Hospital, an inpatient facility with over 200 beds. The hospital cares for patients with a wide range of mental health issues and is looking to expand its operations further.
Our Load Release En-suite Door was the star of the show, with its eye-catching visual design explicitly created to support the healing process for mental health patients through the introduction of art (created by artists from Hospital Rooms).
The new Acute Mental Health Inpatient Centre is a purpose-built, modern facility that centralises mental health care in the region. Their mission is to reduce mental health stigma and make support more accessible for those who need it.
The importance of the difference between a full-door alarm and a door-top ligature alarm was a highlight of the visit, and it was great to hear clinicians' feedback on the support this alarm sensor could bring to their facilities.
Nue Healthcare is one of Ireland's leading care providers and has recently started the construction of Tearmann House, a new specialist mental health facility. The new site will provide much-needed support and expand upon the existing care pathway within Nua.
After extensive research of mental health door solutions, we were delighted to hear that Nua had identified our anti-barricade bedroom doorset with full-door alarm sensor and anti-ligature locksets as the safest solution. Additionally, our 5-year robustness guarantee made it the most cost-effective choice. Doora visited the site earlier this year to provide hands-on product training to their mental health clinical staff.
It was an excellent opportunity to introduce the team to our anti-ligature bathroom door - a bathroom door designed and improved based on customer feedback to preserve privacy and dignity without compromising on safety.
All the organisations we've visited have been dedicated to improving safety and creating spaces with patients' recovery in mind. Doora's mission is to support clinical teams searching for the safest solutions and educate them on testing and challenging those solutions. We believe in the best outcomes for their patients, clinical staff and the wider organisation.
