HIGH-PERFORMANCE ANTI-BARRICADE DOOR

The internal multi-point lock system ensures day-to-day robustness. At the same time, a single point release activated with a quarter turn of the staff-only Lifeline key provides emergency access within two seconds.

Plus, it’s so intuitive that agency staff can quickly learn to operate it.

NO UNSUPERVISED LIGATURE POINTS

Like all of our mental health products, this complete door system for mental health is resistant to ligatures.

Thanks to its reduced height and angled top of the doorstop, the top section are visible – so staff has a clear view of the door corner without opening the vision panel, enabling casual observations as staff walk past – enhancing service user safety.

UNIFIED KEY TO REDUCING CONFUSION

The anti-barricade stop is specified with the Lifeline closed keyway as standard so that the same Lifeline key can operate our anti-barricade door locking mechanism, vision panel, and anti-barricade stop.

With just one key to carry, it's faster for staff to operate the door and minimizes confusion in stressful situations.

Safe door for staff

Staff can activate the anti-barricade door set with one hand. They won't be hit if the door is rammed because they’re positioned to the side of the swing path. So they stay safe and are in the best position to offer rapid assistance.

Because the stop is integral to the frame and collapses inside, there's no removable section that could be used as a weapon or pose ligature risk.

What does this mean?
As they're designed specifically for mental health environments, our doorsets and locksets are meticulously tested to reduce all ligature risks.

Going that one step further, the auto-ejecting keyway prevents any item from being jammed in there by patients to restrict staff access in a barricade scenario.

The Lifeline keyway is used on many of our products to reduce emergency access time and minimize keyway blocking. Staff only need one key to operate the vision panel, anti-barricade stop, emergency override lockset, and window handles.

How does it work?
The keyway is automatically closed off when the Lifeline key is removed from the lock - meaning nothing can be jammed or tampered with. It's also patented, meaning it's only available from us and ensuring careful regulation of people with access to keys.

HOW IT WORKS

The anti-barricade door stop runs the full height of the door and has a single point of operation from the corridor side.

When the barricade is placed on the door preventing them to open the usual way, releasing swiftstop will cause door to open in the opposite way and overcoming the barricade.
Importantly, speed of access is maximized, and staff is safely positioned to the side of the swing path.

MECHANICAL LOCKING

With either our 1-way SOS or 5-way SOS locksets, the majority of barricades are easily resolved by staff operating the lock with their key – ending potentially stressful situations quickly, safely, and without damage.

Our 5-way SOS lockset provides five override methods to ensure you gain access – regardless of the keyway damage or tampering- the complete override locking system on an anti-ligature lockset.

Looks institutional

Customers told us that hinged stops are bulky, and the exposed hinge knuckle looks institutional - our swiftstop anti-barricade door stop blends into the environment, reducing institutional looks and supporting mental health patient recovery.

Vulnerable to internal pressure

The hinged stop moves across the face of the door upon release. However, if pressure is applied to the inside of the door, the mechanism suffers increased friction. This can cause it to stick – delaying access and putting the patient at risk.

This is a particular issue for three-sided strike plates because there’s no resistance from the inside out. This strike plate design also creates a mechanical vulnerability, causing door hardware to break following abuse.

Impacts staff safety

Staff put their hands in front of the door to operate hinged doorstops. So if a service user is applying pressure to the door or ramming it, this could cause staff injury.

Conceals a ligature point

Full-height stops create a concealed ligature point at the top corner of the door, providing the risk of hanging ligature and, therefore, self-harm.

Multiple unlocking points

Multiple unlocking points delay entry and can confuse stressful situations. If just one locking point remains unactivated, the stop will not release, and staff must work out which it is – increasing stress.
