BIRMINGHAM AND SOLIHULL MENTAL HEALTH FOUNDATION TRUST

With tampering and barricading an issue, the trust approached us for a reliable and complete override system to ensure staff could always gain access.  Our existing 5-way SOS (Staff override system lockset) didn't quite fit the bill as there were concerns of keyway tampering.

The project was certainly a test for our designers.  But we soon found a solution that answered their every need.

Combining 5-way SOS with our Lifeline closed keyway system

Combining 5-way SOS with our Lifeline closed keyway system

Combining our 5-way SOS locksets with Lifeline closed keyway system – designed to eject foreign objects like chewing gum and paper, helped to minimise keyway tampering as well as provide additional emergency override systems to ensure access in an emergency.

Testing our solution

The proof came in the testing when the Trust staff really put our lockset through its paces.  Having dealt with the many issues caused by blocked keyways, they set about trying to jam it with various foreign objects, including toothpaste and a mixture of hair gel and hairspray.

They were so impressed that they duly ordered 400 integrated locksets and now specify them as standard.
