Award-winning design

Decorated with the Local Authority Building Control Excellence Award in 2018, the school is set around a central ‘heart space’ which provides a range of uses to aid learning, as well as provide space for community groups when school is out.  According to the architects, the spiral staircase in the heart space is a focal point – “specifically chosen for the children to use and enjoy, given many live in run down housing estates where stair cores are of poor quality”.

Classroom areas cluster around the heart space and external courtyard, providing access around the school, and offering breakout areas, group rooms and access to external learning spaces which are integrated into the first floor terraces.

The outside space includes a flood-lit games area, allowing for extended community and school use during late afternoons and evenings in wintertime.  Plus the large roof terrace provides space to grow fruit, vegetables and plants.

Why our integral finger guard was chosen

Our integral finger guards are ideal for new builds and major refurbishments and have been used on several projects designed by Haverstock Associates – including Livity SEN School in London Borough of Lambeth.  

They are also used regularly by London Borough of Southwark, including Southwark Park Primary School and six others as part of the recent batch constructed by Galliford Try and Morgan Sindall.
